The island is easily accessible from the mainland either via the Strelasund (Rügenbrücke or Rügendamm) or via the car ferry "Stahlbrode - Glewitz".
Coming from Hamburg/Lübeck

From the A1 via the Lübeck junction onto the A20 Baltic Sea motorway to the Stralsund /Insel Rügen exit, then via the motorway feeder road (B96n) and the Stralsund bypass to the island of Rügen.
Coming from Berlin

Take the A11 to the Uckermark junction. Then take the A20 in the direction of Stralsund or the A24 to the Wittstock junction, then the A19 to the Rostock junction and then the A20 in the direction of Stralsund.
From Poland

Via the motorway A11 Stettin - Berlin and the border crossing Pomellen to Germany. Then to the triangle Uckermark and from there the A20 towards Stralsund. At the Stralsund exit, take the B96n in the direction of Stralsund/Insel Rügen.
Especially in the summer months the Rügen ferry Stahlbrode-Glewitz is a great relief to the Rügen bridge and the old Rügen dam. In the months from April to October the car ferries run daily every 20 minutes over the Strelasund to Rügen.
From the A20 take the exit "Rügen/Stralsund", continue on the Rügenzubringer to the Miltzow exit. Then simply follow the signs to Stahlbrode. From Glewitz you take a beautiful alley road via Garz and Samtens onto the B96.
On Rügen you pass Bergen on the B96 and take the signposted exit left to Ralswiek approx. 5 km after Bergen. Drive straight ahead through the village of Ralswiek, then through the gate entrance and the driveway through the castle park up to the castle. Parking is available in the courtyard and behind the house.
Arrival by train

The district town Bergen is IC railway station and only 8 km away from Ralswiek. There are direct connections to Rügen from the following stations: Karlsruhe, Heidelberg, Koblenz, Darmstadt, Frankfurt/Main, Kassel, Göttingen, Hannover, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Essen, Bremen, Hamburg. In the regional traffic between Rügen and the mainland there are many favorable connections. The Hanse-Express is the ideal connection between Hamburg and Rügen. From Bergen you can take a taxi for about € 17,- to the Schlosshotel.
Arrival by plane

With flights from Cologne-Bonn, Stuttgart and Munich to the airport Rostock-Laage. Reserve a rental car in advance or use the bus and train from Rostock.
The only airport on the island is located in Güttin, approx. 8 km from the island capital Bergen. The offer includes charter flights to Berlin or Hamburg, island sightseeing flights, landing pad for private aircraft. Particularly in the summer months, the airline Aero Berlin offers the connection Berlin - Rügen in addition to the charter offers.
Arrival by ship

From Denmark and Sweden via the Öresund bridge between Copenhagen (DK) and Malmö (SE) or from Sweden via Trelleborg and via the ferry connection of Stena Lines AB to Rügen (Sassnitz-Mukran).
From the Danish neighbouring island of Bornholm there is a car ferry connection operated by the shipping company Bornholms Trafikken. After a crossing of about three and a half hours you arrive at the ferry port Sassnitz-Mukran. There are also ferries from Sassnitz/Mukran to Klaipeda in Lithuania and to St. Petersburg in Russia.
From Mukran it is 18 km to the Schlosshotel Ralswiek.
